Build Your Island is a hex-tile building game — you don’t lay out a plan from scratch so much as grow one piece at a time. Each round hands you a small set of tiles, and every tile only fits against one already on your island, so the shape spreads outward on its own instead of following a grid you drew yourself.
The tiles aren’t just scenery. Grass, forest, desert, mountain, and water pieces cluster into zones, and finishing a zone off pays out coins. Those coins buy Tile Packs to refill your hand, including a rarer pack that turns up less common pieces. Lay road tiles corner to corner and they snap together on their own, and sending your explorer walking toward a treasure chest earns you a bonus reward along the way.
Controls
Drag a tile from your available tiles and drop it onto an open edge of your island to place it. Drag anywhere on the island to pan the camera, and scroll or pinch to zoom in and out. Tap Explore to send your explorer toward a nearby treasure chest.
Tips that actually help
- Grab a Mountains tile when one turns up — it opens a new zone instead of just filling out the one you’re on, which keeps you from running out of legal placements.
- Finish a zone before spending coins on your next Tile Pack; the payout for completing one is usually worth more than rushing into fresh terrain.
- Send your explorer after a treasure chest as soon as one appears on the island — it’s a free reward that doesn’t cost you a placement.
- If you’re down to your last few tiles with no coins left, reset the island rather than forcing awkward placements onto a shape that can’t grow anymore.
