Hide and Smash pits disguised hiders racing to collect keys against smashers hunting them down, in fast one-minute multiplayer rounds.
Hide and Smash
Every round of Hide and Smash splits the lobby into two teams with opposite jobs. Land on the blue team and you’re a hider: you freeze into the shape of an ordinary prop, hold still while a red-team smasher walks right past you, then dash to grab a scattered key the moment their back is turned. Land on red and the job flips — you’re combing a small arena full of crates, chairs, and clutter, and one of those objects isn’t a prop at all.
The tension comes from how little either side actually knows. Hiders win by collecting every key on the map before they’re caught, which means breaking cover repeatedly instead of just sitting still for the whole match. Smashers win by finding and smashing every hider first, which means learning to read the small tells — a prop that wasn’t there a second ago, one that’s slightly out of place — rather than swinging at everything in sight. Rounds are quick, so a bad guess as either side rarely costs more than a minute before the next one starts.
Controls
- W, A, S, D or the arrow keys to move
- Mouse click to aim and smash (as the red team) or to interact with keys (as the blue team)
Tips for both roles
- As a hider, don’t grab a key the instant you see one — check whether a smasher is nearby first, since moving is the one thing that gives you away.
- Pick a disguise near where you’ll actually need to move next; a prop stuck in a dead corner of the map just delays you when a key spawns elsewhere.
- As a smasher, watch for objects that don’t match their surroundings rather than clicking on every prop in the room — a lone crate in an open walkway is a better bet than one already sitting in a stack of identical crates.
- Rounds move fast in both roles, so treat each one as a fresh read rather than repeating whatever worked last time.
