Defend your kingdom in Kingdom Rush, a classic tower defense game: build and upgrade towers, summon a hero, and cast spells to crush waves of orcs.
Kingdom Rush
The road into your kingdom bends through open fields and choke points, and every few seconds a fresh wave of orcs, wolves, and worse comes marching down it. Kingdom Rush hands you a strip of buildable ground on either side of that road and a pile of gold, and the whole game is the tension between spending that gold now on more towers or saving it to upgrade the ones you already have.
A level opens slow: a handful of grunts you can drop with a couple of archer towers. By the halfway point you’re juggling armored orcs that shrug off arrows, flying enemies only a mage or archer can hit, and a boss with a health bar that makes your early towers look like pop guns. You’ll also drop in a hero unit who fights on the ground and levels up as the level goes on, and burn limited-use spells — calling in reinforcements to block a gap, torching a cluster of enemies — at the exact moment a wave threatens to break through.
Controls
Everything is done with the mouse (or a tap, on touch screens). Click an open building plot to place a tower, click a tower you’ve already built to upgrade it or see its range, and click on enemies or the battlefield to aim your hero’s abilities and your spells.
Tips that actually help
- Barracks towers don’t do much damage, but the soldiers they spawn block the path and buy your archers and mages extra seconds of firing time — put at least one on every level.
- Armored enemies laugh off arrows. Keep a mage or artillery tower covering any stretch where you expect them, since magic and splash damage ignore or punish armor.
- Don’t spread your gold thin across every empty plot. A few towers upgraded to their higher tiers hit far harder than twice as many left at tier one.
- Save your hero and spells for the wave that’s actually going wrong, not the first enemy that walks past — they’re on cooldowns and you’ll want them later.
