Play Turnament, a turn-based puzzle game by Nitrome where each step you take also moves every enemy and trap — plan your route before you commit.
Turnament
Turnament is a turn-based puzzle game from Nitrome. You play as Rust Bucket, a small robot working through a grid of levels packed with enemies, spike traps, coins, and smashable pots. Nothing in the level moves until you do — every step you take is a “turn,” and that same step lets every enemy and trap take one too. Stand still and the world freezes with you.
That rule is the entire game. Each level is a small logic puzzle: you have to read where the enemies will go before you move, because your move and theirs happen at the same instant. Rushing in gets Rust Bucket caught between two enemies that were never going to collide until you walked into their path. The scoring goal on each level is to reach the end in as few turns as possible, so the fun is in finding the tighter, safer route rather than just any route.
Controls
- Move with the arrow keys — one tap moves one square and advances one turn.
Tips that actually help
- Watch enemy facing and movement patterns before you step, not after — they commit to their next move as soon as you commit to yours.
- A pot or crate between you and an enemy is free cover; smashing it can also clear a shorter path.
- If a level looks solved but your turn count is high, look for a route that skips detours around traps rather than walking through the gaps between their active frames.
