Bellum.io is a fast-paced multiplayer strategy game where players compete in real-time to build the largest empire on a hex-based map. Starting with a single base, your goal is to generate Military Power (MP), conquer neighboring tiles, and capture enemy starbases. Every round is a race against other players to climb the leaderboard, requiring a balance between active resource generation and strategic expansions.
A typical session feels intense and highly competitive as you watch your borders constantly shift. You must decide when to spend your hard-earned MP on passive income units like soldiers and tanks, or when to launch aggressive expansion campaigns. The threat of sudden attacks from neighboring players means you must always stay alert, making diplomacy and quick decision-making key to surviving the round.
Controls
- Mouse Left-Click: Navigate the interface, click “+1 MP” to generate resources, and click on adjacent hexes to claim or attack them.
- Click and Drag: Select multiple territories or coordinate forces.
- Touchscreen (Mobile): Tap buttons to manage resources and tap tiles to attack or upgrade.
Tips for Victory
- Focus on Passive Income Early: While clicking “+1 MP” gets you started, buying recruits and soldiers as soon as possible will automate your resource generation, allowing you to focus on map expansion.
- Capture Starbases: Your army size is limited by your unit cap. Claim neutral starbases early to raise this limit and allow for a larger force.
- Fortify Your Borders: Upgrade the defensive level of tiles adjacent to hostile neighbors. High-level tiles slow down enemy advances and give you time to mount a counter-attack.
- Use Diplomacy Wisely: Form temporary alliances with weaker neighbors to focus on major threats. Keep a close eye on your allies, as they can betray you to claim the top leaderboard spot.
