Battleship brings Hasbro’s classic naval combat game to the browser: two hidden fleets, two grids, and nothing to go on but guesswork and a bit of memory. You lay out your ships in secret, then trade blind shots with your opponent one square at a time until somebody’s whole fleet is on the bottom.
Each turn is a single click on a square of the enemy grid. A hit marks the spot and tells you a ship is somewhere nearby; a miss just costs you the turn. Land hits and you build XP toward heavier weapons that damage a wider spread of squares, so a good run of accurate shots snowballs into an easier finish.
Controls
Left mouse button only — click a square on your own grid to place a ship, then click squares on the enemy grid to fire.
Tips that actually help
- Don’t cluster your ships in one corner of your grid. A spread-out fleet means one bad guess from your opponent doesn’t accidentally reveal two ships at once.
- Every ship is at least two squares long, so a checkerboard pattern (firing on every other square) is enough to guarantee you’ll clip every ship on the board — no need to check every single square.
- Once you land a hit, don’t go back to random guessing. Fire on the four squares directly next to it first, since the rest of that ship has to be in a straight line from where you just hit.
- After a second hit on the same ship confirms its direction, keep firing along that line until it sinks before hunting elsewhere — chasing a confirmed ship is faster than starting a new search.
