Betrayal.io is a multiplayer social deduction game where deception is the only way to survive. You drop into a lobby with up to twelve other players and are secretly assigned a role. If you are a Crewmate, your job is to roam the map completing a list of mini-game tasks to secure a victory for the team. If you are a Betrayer, your goal is to sabotage systems and eliminate the crew one by one without getting caught.
A typical match moves quickly between quiet moments of task completion and chaotic emergency meetings. When a body is found or a meeting is called, players must discuss what they saw, defend themselves, and vote out the person they believe is responsible. With extra roles like the Sheriff who can protect the crew and the Jester who actively wants to be voted out, every conversation becomes a tense puzzle of trust and suspicion.
Tips for Survival
- Watch movement, not just tasks: Pay attention to players who seem to be wandering aimlessly or standing near vents without actually doing anything productive.
- Use the Sheriff wisely: If you are the Sheriff, do not reveal yourself immediately. Wait until you are certain of a Betrayer’s identity before striking, as a wrong guess will eliminate you instead.
- Beware the Jester: Sometimes a player acting extremely suspiciously wants you to vote for them. If someone makes their “mistakes” too obvious, they might be playing the Jester role to steal the win.
- Stick to the buddy system: As a Crewmate, traveling in pairs or small groups makes it much harder for a Betrayer to isolate you for an elimination without being seen by a witness.
