FL Tron is a fast-paced, grid-based arcade game inspired by the legendary light cycle battles from the Tron universe. Operating a high-speed light cycle, your objective is to navigate the neon grid and trap your opponent into crashing while avoiding walls, your opponent’s trail, and your own path. The game features a tense battle of reflexes and strategic pathfinding that makes every round incredibly intense.
Whether playing solo against the computer or head-to-head with a friend in local two-player mode, each match is a quick, high-stakes battle of wits. Since you cannot stop or reverse, success requires thinking several moves ahead, predicting your opponent’s trajectory, and using temporary turbo boosts to block their escape routes.
Controls
FL Tron is played on a single keyboard. The default control mappings are:
- Player 1 (Green/Jade Cycle): Use the W, A, S, D keys to steer left, right, up, and down. Press the Tab key for a speed boost (Turbo).
- Player 2 (Purple/Violet Cycle): Use the Arrow keys to steer. Press the Enter key for a speed boost (Turbo).
Strategic Tips
- Control the Center: Guide your opponent toward the outer edges of the grid early on. By claiming the center of the arena, you gain more maneuvering freedom while restricting theirs.
- Deploy Turbo with Caution: The turbo boost is a powerful tool to cut off an opponent, but its high speed makes crash errors much more likely. Save your boosts for clear straightaways or sudden cutoff maneuvers.
- Trace the Perimeter: If you want to play defensively, hug the outer walls or your own trail closely. This minimizes wasted space and forces the other player to navigate the shrinking open area first.
