Fortz is a fast-paced, two-player arena battle where construction is just as important as destruction. You and a friend go head-to-head on the same keyboard, controlling little soldiers in a 2D battlefield. The goal is simple: build defensive forts, grab powerful weapons, and blast your opponent’s base to pieces before they can do the same to you.
Instead of just running and gunning, you need to think tactically. You can place blocks to shield yourself from incoming fire or create elevated platforms to gain the high ground and reach supply drops. As the match progresses, crates containing missiles, heavy machine guns, and other chaotic weapons drop from the sky, forcing both players to break cover and scramble for an advantage.
Controls
Fortz is designed for local two-player matches on a shared keyboard. Both players can move, jump, build blocks, and operate turrets.
- Player 1: Use W, A, and D to move and jump. Press S to place a block. When aiming a turret, use W and S to aim, and D to shoot.
- Player 2: Use the Up, Left, and Right arrow keys to move and jump. Press the Down arrow to place a block. When aiming a turret, use the Up and Down arrows to aim, and the Left arrow to shoot.
Tips that actually help
- Control the drops: Supply crates dictate the flow of the match. Try to build a quick barricade over drop zones so your opponent can’t reach them, or use blocks to build stairs up to a high crate.
- Build offensively: Don’t just use blocks for defense. You can drop blocks directly onto your opponent to trap them, or place them right in front of their turret barrel just as they pull the trigger.
- Protect your core: Your base has vulnerable spots. Prioritize reinforcing the area around your main turret with extra blocks before making a risky push across the map.
