RibbitPlay Ribbit, Nitrome's frog-rabbit hybrid platformer: tilt to hop, spin 180 degrees for a super jump, and bounce through 20 tricky levels.
Ribbit
Ribbit stars a lopsided science experiment: a rabbit and a frog fused together at the head by the evil Dr. Siamese, now bouncing through his lab trying to hunt him down. Instead of walking or jumping like a normal platformer, Ribbit only moves by tilting and hopping — lean the wrong way near a ledge and the character ricochets straight into it.
Nitrome built the whole game around that one unusual control scheme, and its 20-level campaign is a steady escalation of how precisely you can use it. Early rooms just want you rolling from platform to platform, but later ones demand a mid-air 180-degree spin to land a super jump onto ledges you can’t otherwise reach, and eventually a second spin to punch straight through enemies blocking the way.
Controls
- Left / Right arrow keys — tilt Ribbit in that direction to make it hop
- Keep tilting through a full 180-degree rotation mid-air to trigger a super jump for extra height
- Chain two spins in a row for a double super jump, which also breaks through most enemies
Tips that actually help
- Don’t fight the momentum — Ribbit keeps rotating as long as you hold a direction, so tap rather than hold once you’re airborne and need to stop turning at the right angle.
- Save the double super jump for enemies blocking a narrow passage; it’s often the only way through.
- The difficulty ramps up fast almost from the start, so short sessions beat marathon ones — take a break after a few failed attempts rather than grinding the same level over and over.
Ribbit suits players who like a tight, skill-based platformer built around one unusual gimmick rather than a straightforward run-and-jump — patience with the learning curve pays off once the spin control clicks.
