Short Life is a bizarre and brutal physics platformer where the only goal is to survive. You control a very fragile everyday guy attempting to navigate obstacle courses filled with deadly traps, from swinging blades and landmines to giant crushing barrels. Every wrong step can result in losing a limb—or worse—but as long as your character is still crawling, you can keep pushing forward to the finish line.
The game is famously unforgiving, demanding careful timing and precise movements to get past its gruesome hazards. Unlike traditional platformers that encourage speed, Short Life rewards patience. You will need to carefully observe the patterns of falling spikes, explosive barrels, and moving platforms if you want to complete each stage in one piece.
Controls
- Left/Right Arrow Keys or A/D: Move left and right
- Up Arrow or W: Jump / Stand up
- Down Arrow or S: Crouch / Crawl
Tips for Survival
- Crawl under danger: A lot of traps swing at head-height or are triggered by standing. When in doubt, crouch or crawl your way through a dangerous area.
- Watch the whole screen: Before making a leap of faith, wait a moment to see if any barrels, spiked balls, or arrows are triggered to fall from above.
- You can crawl without legs: Even if your character takes a hit, do not immediately restart. As long as the head is attached and you have some momentum left, you might still inch across the finish line!
