Space Invaders
Space Invaders here is a retro-styled arcade shooter — on its original hosting page it’s listed as Space Alien Invaders — where you pilot a lone spaceship stationed along the bottom of the screen, defending Earth from a wave of descending alien UFOs. The pixel-art look deliberately nods to the arcade era, and the whole thing runs straight in the browser with no plugin required.
The idea is simple: dodge the streams of enemy fire raining down while returning laser blasts of your own, in one continuous run with no levels or story missions to break it up — just you against the alien onslaught for as long as you can hold out.
Controls
- Move: Left/Right arrow keys, W and D, or hold the left mouse button
- Shoot: Space bar
It’s also playable on mobile and tablet in the browser.
Staying alive
- Keep moving rather than parking in one spot — a drifting target is harder for descending fire to line up on.
- There’s no checkpoint or story mode to fall back on, so every extra second alive is the actual goal, not just a step toward a higher score.
