Stacktris is a tense, physics-based balancing act that turns the classic falling-block formula upside down. Instead of clearing lines at the bottom of a pit, your goal is to stack tetrominoes as high into the air as possible without letting your tower topple over. Every block automatically spins as it falls, forcing you to carefully time your drops to land pieces perfectly flat or securely wedge them into gaps.
The pacing shifts from a casual puzzle experience into a high-stakes balancing act the taller your structure grows. A single awkward placement can tilt your entire tower, and as blocks start to spin faster, you must constantly manage gravity, friction, and the precarious center of mass to reach a new high score before an inevitable collapse.
Controls
- Desktop: Click and hold to stop a block from spinning, drag horizontally to move it, and release your mouse button to drop. You can also use the A/D or Left/Right arrow keys to nudge the piece.
- Mobile: Long-press to freeze the block’s rotation, drag your finger to slide it left or right, and release to let it fall.
Tips
- Build a wide base: Don’t just stack straight up. Use your first few pieces to create a wide, flat foundation. A broader base absorbs off-center weight much better than a narrow spire.
- Anticipate the spin: Because blocks rotate automatically, try to freeze them right before they reach your desired orientation. Account for the slight delay between your click and the piece stopping.
- Wedge pieces to save a leaning tower: If your structure starts tilting in one direction, drop a heavy piece on the opposite side to counterbalance it, or interlock a jagged piece into a gap to bind two loose columns together.
