FreeCell is a classic variant of solitaire where every card is dealt face-up from the beginning, removing the element of chance found in traditional Klondike. To maneuver the tableau, you use four empty “free cells” as temporary holding spots for single cards. A successful session requires thinking several steps ahead to untangle the layout while keeping your free cells open for emergencies.
Controls
- Mouse: Left-click and hold to drag a card or a valid stack of cards to another column, a free cell, or a foundation pile.

Tips that actually help
- Examine the board before moving: Look for the Aces first. The deeper they are buried, the harder the game will be. Plan your initial moves around freeing them up.
- Keep free cells open: The number of empty free cells determines how many cards you can move at once. Try to use them only when absolutely necessary and clear them out as soon as possible.
- Empty columns are powerful: Prioritize clearing out a full column. An empty column functions like a super-sized free cell, allowing you to temporarily store entire sequences of cards.
- Don’t rush to the foundations: Sometimes moving a card to the foundation too early can block you from placing a different card on the tableau. Ensure you won’t need a card for sequencing before tucking it away.
