Wordle gives you six chances to guess a hidden five-letter word. After each guess the tiles flip to reveal what you got right: a green tile means the letter is in the correct position, yellow means the letter belongs in the word but you have placed it in the wrong spot, and gray means the letter does not appear in the word at all. You use those signals to build each new guess, narrowing the possibilities until the answer clicks into place — or your sixth row runs out.

Tips That Actually Help
- Open with a vowel-heavy word. CRANE, SLATE, or AUDIO typically light up two or three tiles immediately and give you a solid map to work from.
- Yellow is a two-part clue. It confirms the letter exists in the word and rules out the column you just placed it in — move it somewhere new rather than reusing the same position.
- When stuck, try a completely fresh word. Reshuffling the same letters often teaches you less than picking a new word that avoids all your grays and tests untried letters.
- Double letters are more common than they seem. If your confirmed letters keep not forming a word, consider that one of them might appear twice — ABBEY, SPILL, and VIVID are examples of real answers with repeats.
