Flappy BirdTap to flap, dodge the pipes, and beat your high score in Dong Nguyen's iconic one-button arcade game that took over the world in 2014.
Flappy Bird
Flappy Bird is a side-scrolling arcade game where every tap lifts a small bird upward and gravity pulls it back down. Your only task is to thread it through the gaps between vertical green pipes — clip the top pipe, hit the bottom one, or touch the ground and the run ends immediately. The scoring is as lean as the controls: one point per pipe cleared, nothing else.
The game was built by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen and released in 2013. It quietly sat on the App Store for months before word of mouth turned it into one of the most downloaded apps on the planet in early 2014. Nguyen removed it voluntarily weeks later, finding the attention more than he had bargained for. Browser versions preserved the original physics almost exactly. A score in the double digits is a genuine achievement; breaking thirty is something most players never manage.

Tips that actually help
- Watch the gap, not the bird. Your eyes should be on the opening ahead. The bird is peripheral — let it stay that way.
- Use short, single taps. The bird’s arc is small when you tap once and wait. Rapid multi-taps send it into the top pipe more often than through the gap.
- Find the rhythm. Pipe spacing is fixed. Past the first few pipes, you can settle into a tap cadence instead of reacting to each one individually. When that click happens, scores jump.
- Don’t panic-tap when you drift low. One deliberate flap is almost always right. Two usually overcorrects straight into the ceiling.
