Fireboy and WatergirlControl Fireboy with arrow keys and Watergirl with WASD as you solve elemental puzzles across the Forest Temple's increasingly tricky levels.
Fireboy and Watergirl
Fireboy and Watergirl is a co-operative puzzle-platformer built around one elegant rule: the two characters share a screen, each lethal to the other’s element. Fireboy can walk through lava without harm but instantly dissolves in water; Watergirl skips through puddles unscathed but cannot touch a flame. You control both on the same keyboard — arrow keys for Fireboy, WASD for Watergirl — or hand off one side to a second player. Either way, every level demands that you think for two at once.
The Forest Temple opens with gentle lever-and-platform puzzles and steadily raises the stakes. Each stage holds gems to collect — red ones for Fireboy, blue ones for Watergirl — before you guide both characters to their matching exit doors. The third hazard trips up everyone early: green pools kill both characters regardless of element, so the floor is never as safe as it looks. A well-designed level might take two minutes or fifteen; the point is working out the sequence, not your reaction time.
Controls
- Fireboy: ← → arrow keys to move; ↑ to jump
- Watergirl: A / D to move; W to jump
On touch devices, on-screen buttons replace the keyboard.
Tips
- Move one character at a time on unfamiliar sections. Bring Fireboy to a safe ledge first, then cross with Watergirl. Racing both simultaneously usually loses one to a hazard.
- Watch for pressure plates. Many puzzles require one character to stand on a switch while the other crosses the gate it opens. Step off too early and the gate closes again.
- Green goo is different from water and lava. Both characters die on contact, so treat those pools like solid walls when plotting a route — there is no safe side.
- Collect gems before committing to the exit. A character standing in their doorway waits, but gems on the far side of the room become unreachable once you commit.
