Google Minesweeper
Google Minesweeper brings the classic logic puzzle directly to your browser, maintaining the simple yet tense gameplay that has frustrated and delighted players for decades. You are presented with a grid of blank squares, and your goal is to uncover all the safe spots without accidentally detonating a hidden mine. Each revealed number tells you exactly how many mines are touching that specific square, giving you the clues needed to deduce your next move.
A typical session starts with a lucky click to open up some space, followed by careful, methodical deduction as you map out the danger zones. It is a game of pure logic where one wrong click ends the round, making it perfect for quick mental workouts. Whether you are carefully tiptoeing through the beginner grid or speeding through the expert difficulty, the satisfaction of a completely cleared board never gets old.
Controls
- Left-Click (or Tap): Reveal a square.
- Right-Click (or Long Press): Place a flag on a suspected mine.
- Left+Right Click (or Middle-Click): “Chord” to reveal adjacent squares if the correct number of flags are touching the number.
Tips that actually help
- Start in the corners: While not a hard rule, clicking near the corners or edges can often open up larger sections of the board early on, giving you more numbers to work with.
- Learn patterns: Recognize common number patterns. For example, a 1-2-1 pattern on a flat edge means the mines are always under the 1s, and a 1-1 pattern means the mine is in the space shared by only one of the 1s.
- Use chording to save time: Once you have flagged the correct number of mines around a revealed number, middle-click (or left and right click simultaneously) on that number to instantly clear the remaining adjacent squares. This drastically speeds up your play.
