Super Mario World Online
Super Mario World is the 1990 SNES platformer that introduced Yoshi and set the template for every 2D Mario game that followed — here you can play it in your browser without installing anything. The game sends you across Dinosaur Land: seven worlds, a Star Road shortcut network, and a total of 96 exits spread across levels that often hide a second, secret way out. Bowser and his seven Koopalings have kidnapped Princess Toadstool, but the bigger goal most players set for themselves is finding all 96 exits, which takes far longer than just reaching the credits.
Each world has its own feel — the ghost houses of Donut Plains play differently from the underwater caves of Vanilla Dome or the fortress gauntlets in Chocolate Island. The Cape Feather is the standout power-up: once you learn the running glide (sprint, jump, then alternate direction taps to stay airborne), you can bypass most of a level entirely. Yoshi adds another layer — four colors, each with a different shell ability, and keeping a good Yoshi alive long enough to use it is its own small challenge.

On mobile and tablet, an on-screen d-pad appears on the left and action buttons on the right.
Tips
- Master the cape glide before anything else. Hold X to reach full sprint speed, jump, then gently alternate left and right inputs when you start to lose height. You will stay airborne indefinitely and can skip most of a level — this is worth practising in an early flat stage.
- Blue and Yellow Yoshi are worth protecting. Blue Yoshi flies with any shell in its mouth, not just blue shells. Yellow Yoshi creates a stomp shockwave when holding any shell. Both are significantly more useful than the default green.
- Every ghost house has two exits. The obvious exit usually just unlocks the next normal node on the map; a hidden exit tends to skip several worlds or unlock a secret path. Look for misaligned ceiling tiles or rooms that seem to serve no purpose.
- The five-coin blocks reset when you re-enter a level. If you need extra lives early, find a level with a P-Switch near multiple coin strings, activate it, collect the coins, exit, and repeat.
Super Mario World rewards both quick pick-up-and-play sessions and longer runs chasing every secret exit. If classic side-scrollers are your thing, the other titles in the Retro Games category on Pork Games are worth checking out.
