Super Mario
Super Mario puts you in the red overalls of Mario, a plumber crossing the Mushroom Kingdom one level at a time. The core loop is simple and satisfying: run right, jump on enemies to stomp them, duck into pipes, and reach the flagpole at the end of each stage. Power-ups found in glowing ? blocks change what you can do — a Mushroom doubles Mario’s size and lets him take one hit, a Fire Flower adds a projectile attack, and a Star turns him briefly invincible and unstoppable.
The browser version covers the original game’s worlds, each with its own hazard set: grassy plains, underground tunnels, underwater stages, and castles guarded by Bowser. The difficulty climbs steadily — early levels teach the controls at a forgiving pace, while later worlds ask for precise jumps and quick reads of enemy patterns. Losing a life sends you back to the start of the current level, so learning each layout pays off.

Tips
- Hold the jump button — Mario’s jump height scales with how long you press it. A brief tap clears a single Goomba; a full hold gets you across wide pits.
- Hit every ? block — Mushrooms and Fire Flowers are worth collecting before pushing further into a level; a powered-up Mario survives a hit that would otherwise cost a life.
- Kick Koopa shells — a shell sent sliding down a corridor clears a whole line of enemies without needing a jump for each one.
- Grab the top of the flagpole — reaching the highest point at level’s end gives a point bonus that rewards a careful last-second jump.
Most levels finish in two to three minutes at a relaxed pace, making this a good fit for short sessions. The Platformer and Retro Games categories on Pork Games have more side-scrollers worth trying if you enjoy the format.
