Warfare 1917 is a side-scrolling tactical strategy game set along the Western Front of World War I. You take command of British or German forces across historical trench battlefields, allocating recruits and support assets to break the enemy line. Victory isn’t achieved through fast clicking; it requires methodical timing, position control, and clever unit composition to outmaneuver opposing commanders.

Each battle unfolds across a multi-trench battlefield where infantry units advance from cover to cover. As fire fights erupt in no-man’s-land, you must balance offensive surges with defensive fire support, calling in mortar strikes, artillery barrages, and specialized squads to shatter enemy positions. Whether you win by overrunning the enemy’s rear trench line or crushing their army’s morale, every match demands sharp tactical awareness under heavy fire.

Controls

  • Left-Click: Select unit deployment icons, activate artillery support, and target battlefield zones.
  • Mouse Drag / Screen Edge: Scroll the camera view across the trench battlefield.

Tactical Tips for Victory

  • Secure Trenches Before Advancing: Infantry caught in open ground take devastating damage from enemy fire. Order your squads to occupy intermediate trenches to establish stable firing positions before pushing forward.
  • Counter Machine Guns with Snipers: Heavy machine gun nests can halt entire infantry waves. Deploy snipers to eliminate entrenched gunners from a safe distance before launching your main assault.
  • Softening Defenses with Artillery: Avoid sending fresh troops straight into fortified positions. Time your heavy artillery or mortar strikes to suppress dense groups of defenders right before your infantry reaches their trench line.
  • Target Army Morale: Capturing every trench isn’t the only path to win. Sustained casualties and losing key skirmishes erode the enemy’s morale meter; maintaining steady pressure can trigger a total enemy surrender even before you reach their home base.
