Cookie ClickerClick a giant cookie, buy grandmas and factories, and chase Golden Cookie combos in Orteil's original incremental idle game.
Cookie Clicker
Cookie Clicker is an incremental idle game created by Julien Thiennot (Orteil) in 2013 and largely credited with popularizing the clicker genre. The premise is simple: click a giant cookie to produce cookies, then spend those cookies on buildings that generate more automatically — grandmas baking in the background, farms growing cookie plants, factories running production lines, and eventually time machines pulling cookies in from the past. The numbers scale into the billions and trillions quickly enough that the absurdity becomes part of the appeal.
A typical session starts with frantic clicking and gradually shifts into passive watching, then accelerates again whenever a new building tier opens up or a Golden Cookie appears on screen. Golden Cookies are the game’s main real-time mechanic — they blink in for a limited window and grant bonuses when clicked: a Frenzy multiplies all production 7× for 77 seconds, a Lucky event deposits a lump of stored cookies, and a Click Frenzy boosts each manual click by 777× for a brief burst. Learning to catch them before they vanish is most of what active play looks like.
Controls
- PC: Left-click the big cookie to produce cookies; hover over buildings and upgrades for tooltips and cost details.
- Mobile / Tablet: Tap the cookie to bake; tap buildings and upgrades to purchase or inspect them.
Tips that actually help
- Buy cursor upgrades early. Each cursor upgrade scales with the total number of buildings you own, so they compound quietly as your production grows — they’re easy to overlook in the early shop.
- Stack Golden Cookie effects. A Frenzy and a Click Frenzy can overlap. If both are active at once, click the big cookie as fast as you can — those few seconds can generate more cookies than the previous hour of idle play.
- Let Wrinklers pile up before popping. In later stages, Wrinklers attach to the big cookie and appear to slow production. They’re actually banking more than they drain; pop them all at once after several accumulate for a large lump payout.
- Grimoire combo. Once you unlock a Wizard Tower, the Force the Hand of Fate spell conjures a Golden Cookie on demand. Cast it while a building Frenzy is already active to stack multipliers deliberately rather than waiting for two random events to align.
